The Convenor's Desk
That the T. S. Srinivasan oration has become the definitive event, every February, in the Indian neurosciences calendar, is testimony to the consistent effort made by Mr. Venu Srinivasan and Late Professor Krishnamoorthy Srinivas, in identifying leaders in the field, who could bring their vast knowledge and experience to Indian shores.

Dr. Ennapadam S Krishnamoorthy MBBS, MD, DCN (Lond), PhD (Lond), FRCP (Lond, Edin, Glas), MAMS (India) Founder: Neurokrish Consulting Immediate Past President: International Neuropsychiatric Association (INA) Adjunct Professor: Manipal University & Public Health Foundation, India

When Mr. TS Srinivasan scion of the TVS Group (a multi-billion automobile manufacturing conglomerate in south India) passed on, his socially conscious and philanthropic family, lead by his widow Mrs. Prema Srinivasan and his older son Mr. Venu Srinivasan endowed a series of social impact activities honouring his memory.

One such activity, spearheaded by the late and legendary clinical neurologist from Chennai Professor Krishnamoorthy Srinivas, was this annual oration by an expert in neurosciences from around the globe. Set up at a time when international travel was complicated and few Indians travelled abroad, the program brought to Indian shores, a world leader in the neurological firmament, each year.
Over the first 20 years the program transported the orator to two or three centres of excellence in other parts of India, so that doctors and students there could also benefit. The TS Srinivasan Oration, held every February, established itself as a landmark public event that was attended by professionals and lay intelligentsia, and well covered by the press, raising awareness about the human brain and its disorders in the process.
Lead by an International Advisory Board of eminent former orators, the TS Srinivasan Neurosciences Movement today is focussed on “The Ageing Brain & Behaviour”. It is also a living testament to what private philanthropy and corporate social responsibility can achieve.
