41 Years of T.S. Srinivasan Orations
The T.S Srinivasan Neurosciences Movement was founded by Mr. Venu Srinivasan & Late Prof. Krishnamoorthy Srinivas; Prof. W.B. Mathews of Oxford delivered the first T.S. Srinivasan Endowment oration in the year 1980. Eminent Neurologists have delivered the T. S. Srinivasan Endowment Oration over 40 years, this is our journey.

1980
Founded by Mr. Venu Srinivasan & Late Prof. Krishnamoorthy Srinivas; Prof. W. B. Mathews of Oxford delivers the first T. S. Srinivasan Endowment OrationT. S. Srinivasan Endowment Oration over 40 years, this is our journey.
1982
T. S. Srinivasan Department of Clinical Neurology also commences functioning in Public Health Centre, West Mambalam; one of a kind effort in community neurology and multidisciplinary care in an inner city location
1987
The annual event moves to February (no oration in 1986) to avoid the Chennai monsoon and attendant flooding
2000
The first annual symposium (to become the T. S. Srinivasan Knowledge Conclave later) is held
2004
The T. S. Srinivasan Institute of Clinical Neurosciences is inaugurated at the Voluntary Health Services Hospital, Taramani. Masters in Clinical Neuroscience (MS) course launched in affliation with the Dr. AL Mudaliar Institute in Basic Medical Sciences, Taramani
2005
Prof. Anne Young delivers the 25th TS Srinivasan Endowment Oration, the first lady to be so recognised
2007
Multidisciplinary program in neurosciences and mental health evolves; Wellcome Trust training fellowships for Masters in Social Work students awarded
2009
TN Dr. MGR Medical University accredits the TS Srinivasan Institute at VHS for the interdisplinary PhD program - neuropsychiatry, clinical neurosciences and healthcare outcomes being the recognised fields of endeavour. The first batch of PhD students are inducted.

Comprehensive neuro-rehabilitation services launched; the TVS CARES project starts offering affordable neurorehabilitation
2010
First in the series of “Global Approach” books by Cambridge University Press (Dementia- A Global Approach, editors Krishnamoorthy ES, Prince MJ & Cummings JL) published

Prof. Simon Shorvon delivers the 30th T. S. Srinivasan Endowment Oration and receives the substantive T. S. Srinivasan Prize, another milestone
2012
World Health Report of the World Health Organization is focussed on Dementia with Prof. ES Krishnamoorthy as one of the four global editors. TVS CARES is featured as a developing nation project of excellence
2014
The T. S. Srinivasan Institute completes a decade of training Masters students in Clinical Neuroscience; in due course 4 students successfully defend their PhD dissertations and a fifth has submitted the same and awaits defence
2015
The T. S. Srinivasan-NIMHANS Chair in Clinical Neurosciences is established at the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences, Bengaluru, following the signing of a landmark Memorandum of Understanding

Prof. Christopher J. Mathias, Emeritus Professor at Imperial College & University College London (Queen Square) becomes the 35th orator and the first person of Indian origin to deliver the TS Srinivasan Endowment Oration

Our Publications

One of the outcomes of the TS Srinivasan Knowledge Conclaves is this series of transcultural neurology publications from Cambridge University Press. Encouraged by an endowment from the TS Srinivasan Charitable Trust these publications bring together neuroscientists and mental health professionals from across the globe to address “Transcultural Issues” of import. Dementia (now with the second edition in press) and Epilepsy are the first two books in the series.
Dementia II Edition: Edited by Ennapadam S Krishnamoorthy (Neurokrish I Buddhi Clinic, Chennai, India) & Jefffrey L Cummings (University of Nevada at Las Vegas, USA) - Prof. Cummings was the TS Srinivasan Orator in 2003.
Epilepsy: Edited by Ennapadam S Krishnamoorthy, Simon D Shorvon (University College, London) and Steven C Schachter (Harvard University, Boston, USA)- Prof. Shorvon was the TS Srinivasan Orator in 2011 and Prof. Schachter in 2008.
